Jinn are everywhere. Whether you call them spirits, ghosts, demons, or jinn, they can be scary. Shamans, witch doctors, and charms are popular, but can they truly protect us?
I would like to share with you three simple steps to finding protection from evil spirits so that you don’t have to be afraid.
Protection from Evil Spirits
The man was naked and screaming. He was possessed by many jinn, and no one could help him. The people in the village had tried to bind him with chains, but he broke them with superhuman strength and ran away to live among the tombs. He spent his days crying miserably and cutting himself with stones.
Until the arrival of a man named Jesus Christ, who is also known as Isa al-Masih.
The man was so afflicted that when he opened his mouth to ask for help, the jinn screamed at Jesus Christ to leave him alone. But Jesus did not leave. He knew what was happening. Unafraid, he commanded the jinn to leave the man.
“Do not send us into the abyss!” the jinn begged. They requested to go into a herd of pigs nearby. Jesus ordered them to leave the man and go into the unclean animals. Immediately, the man’s sanity returned, and the entire herd of pigs ran off a cliff into the sea.
Finally, the man was free. He was so thankful! But this is not the only story. Jesus Christ had immense power over evil spirits. Wherever he went, he delivered people who were possessed by jinn. He also gave his followers authority over the devil:
Behold, I give you the authority . . . over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven (from the Gospels, also known as the Injeel, Luke 10:19, 20).
When we follow Jesus Christ, we can have safety in this life and assurance for the life to come! Let’s look at three steps to finding freedom from evil spirits.
Step 1: Claim the Power of Jesus Christ’s Name
The first step is to seek God’s protection in the name of Jesus Christ. By ourselves, we are powerless. But when we proclaim the name of Jesus Christ over our lives, the evil spirits become powerless! Jesus said about his followers: “In My name they will cast out demons” (the Gospels, Mark 16:17).
If you believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ will set you free, he will do it! Simply make this supplication to God, “Lord, please deliver me from evil spirits in the name of the one whom You have sent, Jesus Christ!”
Step 2: Seek Inner and Outer Cleansing
Jesus Christ taught that we must not give any foothold to the devil. He said, “The ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me” (the Gospels, John 14:30). We must cleanse our lives from all evil influences, too.
What does it mean that the devil has “nothing in us”? It means he has nothing in our hearts or homes that belongs to him. We must throw away superstitious charms and amulets. We must abstain from sinful vices like pornography, drugs, and alcohol. If we have been involved in rituals of speaking to the dead or casting curses, we must immediately stop these activities. Thus, we clean our outer environment from demonic influences. Then, we must pray to God to forgive us and cleanse us on the inside.
Step 3: Fill Your Life with Light
After Jesus Christ has delivered you from the power of the jinn, invite him to be in charge of your life. Do not leave your heart empty. Jesus Christ said,
When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, “I will return to my house from which I came.” And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first (the Gospels, Matthew 12:43–45).
When you have been cleansed from jinn, fill your life with the light of Jesus’s book, the Bible. Jesus Christ came as a “light into the world, that whoever believes in [him] should not abide in darkness” (the Gospels, John 12:46). Obtain a copy of Jesus’s book and read it every day so that His light will push out the darkness.
Safety for the Future
We are living close to the end of time when evil spirits are more active than ever. Jesus Christ predicted that before he returns, the forces of evil will perform many false miracles to try to deceive the believers. To some, the jinn will appear in terrifying forms as ghosts; to others, they will appear as angels or dead relatives. The devil himself will even impersonate Jesus Christ!
But you don’t need to be deceived by these lies. If you follow Jesus Christ, he will give you power to resist the devil. Dear friend, whatever your struggle is today, let Jesus Christ set you free!
